Custom Club Fitting
Varying Swings
Custom club making is the business of finding the right combination of shaft flex, weight, length, grip, and clubhead to meet the individual needs of a particular golfer. Golfers varying physical characteristics make it impossible to stock clubs to fit everyone's needs. The only way to properly fit any golfer, is to test a variety of clubs, outdoors, on a grass driving range. Testing clubs indoors does not validate what the launch monitor tells the golfer.
The Components
The key component is the shaft. A shaft with too much flex causes errant shots, while a shaft which is too firm will cost the golfer distance. All clubheads are the latest technology which John has tested and refined for your use. John Greenwood uses the Professional Clubmaker's Society Equalizer System in conjunction with a frequency analyzer to accurately determine shaft flex and build clubs to fit the individual. Accurate records are kept to replace or remake a particular club with exact specs from the previous club including frequency of raw shaft, total weight, swing weight, grip, finished length and finished spine frequency. All graphite shafts out of Greenwood's shop are spine aligned for added consistency.
The Launch Monitor
The only way to accurately match clubs for your swing is to incorporate a launch monitor in the process of club fitting. The launch monitor measures club speed, ball velocity, launch angle, ball spin, carry distance, and power transfer ratio. This information allows the golfer to compare different clubs and allows Greenwood's to match up the proper components for a perfect fit for you.
